A deadly viral strain is stalking Delhi in the wake of the monsoon, with city doctors treating a staggering number of patients.
This year’s is an aggressive virus, and some sufferers have already been hospitalised.
Hospitals are swamped with patients suffering from fever, most of them down with the mosquito-borne dengue and chikungunya with severe joint pain , vomiting ,loose motion symptoms.
“Viral cases have shot up with over 60 cases being reported on a daily basis since the past two weeks. Last week, there has been a fresh bout of viral fever cases. High fever, headache, body pain, nausea, sore throat are the most common symptoms that are affecting people.
Prevention is better than cure:
1. As the disease is transmitted by the mosquitoes, prevention and control relies importantly on reducing the water filled containers that support breeding of the mosquitoes. Mainly these species breed in the water filled areas only.
2. Do not fill any vessel, any bucket in your bathroom with water. These species breed in fresh water.
3. Children, Old age people and pregnant women are more prone to such disease. It is advisable to wear full sleeved clothes during the outbreak
4. Use repellants for the mosquitoes. Close all the windows and doors to restrict the entry of any insect.
5. Do not just clean your house, clean the surrounding areas. Do not let any place in and around you breed the mosquitoes.
6. All eatables to be kept covered .
7. Avoid any kind of uncovered /contaminated food /beverage /water.
Treatment:
- Intake of Sweet lime twice a day along with tsp. of honey.
- Drink plenty of liquid. 2-3 litres of liquid is compulsory . Juice of sweet lime , lemon water , home made soups can be added in diet plan.
- Tulsi tea proves to be highly beneficial in fever.
- Custard apple intake for platelet count and energy retention
- Chutney of Garlic ,ginger ,green chilli with meal.
- In case of Dengue , Boil leaves of Haarshinghar plant in water , Strain it and intake 3-4 sips every half hour.
- Neem water bath to aviod any skin infection or allergies.
- Keep calm and be patient as once got suffered it will take 5-6 days to recover.
- Complete rest.
